Utah Community Action Earns National Head Start Program of Excellence

Utah Community Action (UCA) has received the Program of Excellence Accreditation from the National Head Start Association (NHSA), one of the most rigorous honors in early childhood education. Out of more than 1,600 Head Start programs across the country, UCA is among only a handful to earn this five-year accreditation, placing us in the top 0.7% of programs nationwide. To receive it, our team met 44 demanding “Indicators of Excellence” spanning management, family engagement, and child outcomes; evaluated through a thorough peer review process.

This is the second time UCA has earned this distinction, a reflection of nearly 60 years of sustained commitment to the children and families of Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. “We see this accreditation as fuel to drive our impact,” says CEO Jennifer Godfrey. “We intend to use the next five years to keep raising the standard for early childhood education in Utah.” To our team, our community, and the NHSA, thank you.
